Meet Kayla,
Psychometrist

Before pursuing a career in psychology, Kayla spent six years as a teacher in both mainstream and special education settings. As a classroom and resource teacher, she worked closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support children with diverse learning, emotional, and behavioural needs. This experience continues to inform her understanding of children and adolescents within their educational and family environments.

Kayla provides comprehensive psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of interest include ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning differences, executive functioning, and social-emotional concerns. She believes that assessment should extend beyond identifying areas of difficulty to provide a meaningful understanding of the whole person, recognize individual strengths, and offer practical recommendations that can support success across settings.

Alongside her assessment work, Kayla provides client-centred and neurodivergent-affirming counselling for children and adolescents experiencing concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, and emotional regulation difficulties. Her therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and play-based approaches while honouring each client's individual strengths, values, and lived experiences.

Kayla also provides executive functioning coaching for children and adolescents experiencing difficulties with attention, organization, planning, and self-regulation. She works collaboratively with clients and families to develop practical strategies that can be applied beyond the therapy setting and incorporated into everyday routines.

Across her assessment and therapeutic work, Kayla values curiosity, connection, and self-understanding. She strives to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment in which clients feel heard, accepted, and empowered throughout the process.
